We investigate the scenario where the Standard Model is extended with classical scale invariance, which is broken by chiral symmetry breaking and confinement in a new strongly-coupled gauge theory.
The Higgs field emerges as a mixed state of a massless elementary scalar field and a scalar meson resulting from the confinement, accompanied by a mass term which is proportional to the dynamical scale of the new gauge theory and which always has a negative sign due to the bosonic seesaw mechanism. The scenario has remarkable experimental signatures; one of the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons in the chiral symmetry breaking, which is a Standard Model gauge singlet and couples with electroweak gauge bosons through chiral anomaly, is predicted to have O(10)GeV mass. The other pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons, which possess electroweak charges, may also appear at a scale accessible by collider experiments. About the theoretical aspects of the scenario, it is shown that the scalar quartic coupling and its beta function may vanish simultaneously at the Planck scale, achieving the multiple-point principle and hinting at quantum gravity.
