Surface-acoustic-wave cavity mode stimulated phonon assisted tunneling in a double quantum dot
Decoherence of electrons caused by coupling to acoustic phonons is a significant problem for retention of information in GaAs double quantum dot (DQD) systems. However this coupling may be utilized for the study of cavity quantum electrodynamics (cQED) in a phonon cavity with DQDs. In this study we demonstrate coupling of a SAW cavity mode with a DQD two-level system, evidenced by phonon assisted tunneling of electrons associated with stimulated phonon absorption and emission near a resonant tunneling condition. This result shows that the SAW-DQD system is a promising candidate for the study of acoustic cQED.
